MBTI & Enneagram [ENTJ 3w2] Type EXPLAINED
The Myers-Briggs Personality Test says that there are 16 different personalities having different characteristics based on extroversion/introversion, intuition/sensing, thinking/feelings and judging/percieving (also turbulency/assertion). On the other hand, the Enneagramm is a system that describes how people interpret the world and manage their emotions, based on 9 different personalities.
I am an ENTJ with enneagram 3w2.
Let's get into it.
E stands for extroversion, N for intuition, T for thinking and J for judging.
3w2 personality type is called The Enchanter.
Extroversion
I like beng around people. No, I LOVE being around others. There is nothing nicer than spending a couple of hours in a crowd. Well, that's not the extroversion I want to talk about here. E for extroversion in ENTJ stands for the extroverted thinking. I say things I think about out loud, I put my thoughts (connect this to enTj) in the outer world, I think that something DONE or SAID has more impact that something just felt or seen. It is about action and not being passive.
Intuition
The feeling you get when you just know that something bad will happen if you make that one decision. That's intuition. Now imagine using it all the time when percieving things, animals, people, situations... Show me a picture of a dog and a cat sitting next to each other and I will tell you that I have seen a picture of well-dressured animals that are friendly and probably nice to be around. Also, they look cute, really cute. They probably sleep next to each other when they are cold. See what I did here? I could just continue with this, but I will not tell you that the dog was a brown dachshund with light brown eyes and flat ears and the cat was small, yelow-eyed and grey fur-coated. I see a deeper, hidden picture based on all of my knowledge and experience and connect the dots making the big picture. We will talk about the details later.
Thinking
You may have noticed how I wrote that "I think" about the things I wrote about prior to this part, not how "I felt" about it. This sums up the core of the thinking personality - when making decisions, we focus on logic and reason rather than emotions. We seek objective truth, and our thoughts shape our actions, not how we feel in the moment.
Judging
The "J" in ENTJ stands for Judging. This means I prefer structure, order, and organization. I want to make decisions quickly and stick to a plan. Flexibility and spontaneity can feel draining to me, and I tend to focus on outcomes and results. I need clarity in my environment and life, and I like to be in control of situations.
Enneagram 3
The Enneagram 3 is known as “The Achiever.” The core desire is to feel valuable and to be seen as successful. Threes are highly driven, ambitious, and focused on setting and achieving goals. We thrive on accomplishment and recognition, often pushing ourselves to be the best we can be. The downside is that we can become overly focused on external validation and struggle to connect with our true emotions.
Enneagram 3w2
As a 3w2 (Three with a Two wing), I am also deeply focused on helping others and building relationships. I am driven by the need to achieve success, but I am equally motivated by the desire to be liked and valued by others. The "Two" wing brings a warmth, charm, and an ability to connect with people in a way that is supportive and empathetic. While I focus on personal achievement, I do so with an eye on how it affects those around me and whether it helps me foster meaningful connections.
Trinity: 396
In Enneagram terms, I often operate within the 396 triad. The 3 is about success, the 9 is about maintaining peace, and the 6 is about loyalty. Together, this triad reflects my desire to maintain harmony and relationships while also pushing for achievement and success. There’s a balancing act between staying driven and competitive (3), while also wanting to support and care for those around me (9), and ensuring stability and trustworthiness in my relationships (6).
3w2, 9w1, 6w5
As I navigate through my different Enneagram types, the combination of 3w2, 9w1, and 6w5 creates a unique internal dynamic. The 9w1 brings an idealistic streak, desiring peace and stability, and can sometimes be self-effacing, prioritizing others' needs over my own. The 6w5 aspect adds a bit of caution, introspection, and a need for understanding and competence. This makes me a bit of a strategist, always thinking ahead and analyzing situations before acting.
The Conclusion
In the end, my ENTJ with a 3w2 Enneagram type creates quite a unique personality blend - I am a natural leader (or like to think so), motivated by both achievement and the desire to be liked and valued by others. I approach the world with a vision and a drive to make things happen, while also maintaining relationships and harmony. However, my challenge lies in balancing my ambition with self-care and emotional honesty, ensuring I remain grounded while continuing to pursue my goals with passion.
So, what about you? What’s your MBTI personality type, and which Enneagram number do you identify with? Do you think these two systems complement each other in understanding your personality, or do you feel they highlight different aspects of who you are?
